Art
for me has been a base to form my thoughts and ideas on. It has provided me
opportunities to feel about things around me and then express myself. Art comes
as naturally and as effortlessly to me as we hold conversation. One may say
that my art is to have a dialogue through the medium of images and forms. As
one looks at these images, one can hear them as well. I have always felt that
the traditional objects of utility, like utensils, earthen-wares, domestic equipments,
weapons and even traditional dresses, in their forms and designs possess inherent
virtues of pure thinking, knowledge, science and artistic perception. It is
the wise integration of all these harmonious virtues that makes the simple objects
desirable and worth possessing. The process of discovering and comprehending
these virtues, itself became the process of my creations which led me to give
birth to these drawings.
While composing these art works I have, spontaneously integrated my wishes,
my desires and my imaginative flight-and now these images express me into
themselves.
I may admit, that in a way I myself and my creations, inseparably are entwined.
The art work and the artist are not two separate entities but are one –
whether complete or incomplete, good omened or bad omened, true or untrue-there
is no hiatus between the art and the artist.
There is nothing as pure black and white in life. It may not be impossible,
yet it is difficult still, to express life by making use of only these two
colours- black and white. Fortunately it is only at this juncture, that the
art comes to rescue and helps in giving birth to the composition.
